The Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney has dropped charges against Charlottetown native David Ling.
The professional hockey player was charged with battery and third-degree grand theft in late July.
Ling's lawyer, Guy Fronstin, released a statement on Monday.
The alleged victim claimed in the release to be "relieved to see that the truth has prevailed and the charges were dropped against David Ling.
"David did not batter me. At no point did I feel my physical or emotional wellbeing were compromised. We are both very happy to put the event behind us."
Fronstin said Ling appreciated the authorities took the time to investigate the allegations and determine there was no basis to proceed with the charges.
Ling, 40, played 93 games in the NHL with Montreal and Columbus. He has also played in the AHL, IHL, KHL and ECHL.
