The City of Charlottetown is encouraging residents to get out and snap some photographs.
The city, in partnership with Discover Charlottetown, has launched a new photo contest – Picture Charlottetown – for all ages, with prizes valued up to $1,000.
The photo contest will run until Oct. 31. In November, there will be a gala exhibit at City Hall featuring prize winners and honourable mentions in each category.
“We have developed this contest to engage the community and encourage creativity,” said Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee “As we transition from summer to fall in Charlottetown, there are so many vibrant colours that highlight our beautiful landscapes. Combine that with our rich history, our diversity and culture, and the people who make this city great and you have the perfect setting for a photo contest. We are excited to see a wide range of photos submitted by our residents and visitors alike.”
Photo submissions will be divided into two categories; youth (17 years of age and under) and adult (18 years and older). Grand prizes will be awarded in both categories. In addition, there will be 16 random weekly draws, beginning on Friday, July 8, with prize packages valued at approximately $100 each thanks to businesses and sponsors in the Charlottetown area.
