Charlottetown Police Services is warning the public about a new phone scam that has occurred over the last few days.

The scam involves a phone call by a person claiming to be from Yellow Cab demanding money for unpaid cab fares. The phone number displayed matches the Yellow Cab phone number in an attempt to appear legitimate.

Yellow Cab has stated they will not call the public to collect money for unpaid cab fairs.

Charlottetown police reminds the public to be vigilant and use caution when dealing with suspicious text messages, phone calls and emails as these forms of communication are often used to commit fraud.
