The association says numbers were buoyed by operators offering improved experiences to visitors, thanks to investments and upgrades to their facilities.

In July 2014, fixed-roof accommodations sold 43,442 room nights, while 70,032 camping sites were sold for 113,474 total unit nights. In 2017, that number grew in both categories with a total of 51,074 fixed-roof room nights and 90,209 camping sites sold for 141,283 total units — an overall increase of just under 25 per cent.

The association says investments in the region — including upgrades at Twin Shores Camping, Marco Polo Land and the P.E.I. National Park — led to timproved visitor experiences.

“Many operators are also reporting to our association office some of the strongest August and September numbers in recent history,” said Sandi Lowther, chair of the Tourism Cavendish Beach Association.

“This all points to a very successful tourism season and we cannot be happier for our operators throughout the region.”

Tourism Cavendish Beach is a membership based, not-for-profit organization that includes more than 140 members throughout the Green Gables Shore Region.
