CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Atlantic salmon populations in P.E.I have been declining for decades.

“In general, the salmon are doing poorly,” said Scott Roloson, president of the P.E.I. Council of the Atlantic Salmon Federation.

ASF is a broad organization that dedicates to protecting, conserving and restoring the salmon and the ecosystems they need to thrive.

The group is also committed to restoring wild salmon back to historic levels.

Roloson and members of the federation hope to continue making a difference with their annual fundraiser, where money raised will go directly towards protecting the fish.

In previous years, the fundraiser has helped fund researching and saving habitats.

The community is encouraged to check out the social event on March 28 at the P.E.I Brewing Company.
