ALBERTON – Alberton Town Council is still awaiting a decision from the Farm Practices Review Board after filing a complaint about odours from a farm in town.

Council filed the complaint last month in response to complaints from residents about a seaweed-lobster-body compost mixture piled, and subsequently spread, on Westech Agriculture farmland.

Mayor Michael Murphy told his council the review board has acknowledged receipt of the complaint and is taking it under consideration.

Town administrator, Susan Wallace-Flynn, said the Department of Agriculture has offered to be a mediator between the town and the farm in hopes of resolving the issue.
