A P.E.I. man who forged a landowner’s signature on an application to do ATV trail work was fined $500 Monday.
Christopher Jason Lamont, 43, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to a violation of the Environmental Protection Act.
The court heard that in July a conservation officer learned an application by the Red Isle ATV Club made to the Environment Department for work on a property had a forged signature on it.
Lamont admitted he forged the landowner’s signature.
Before hearing his sentence, Lamont said the club had permission to use the land for ATV trails and he took full responsibility for his actions.
Orr warned Lamont he could have been convicted of forgery and said it was a serious matter when someone sign’s someone else’s name to anything.
