Charlottetown man charged with aggravated assault over Christmas holidays

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 36-year-old Charlottetown area man faces an aggravated assault charge following an incident over the Christmas holidays.

Charlottetown Police Services received a complaint about an assault at a local motel.

After an investigation, the man was charged for assaulting a 37-year-old woman who sustained significant injuries and was hospitalized as a result. Police said the man and woman are known to each other.

The man was jailed and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
