A well-known Charlottetown family with big ties to the restaurant business announced a big hotel project in Moncton on Wednesday.

Murphy Hospitality Group (MHG) is opening the Wesley Hotel in the fall/winter of 2017-2018.

The new boutique hotel, which will house The Gahan House Restaurant and Brewery, will be located on the corner of Wesley and Queen Streets in Moncton, N.B.

It will be a 75-unit lifestyle hotel with an abundance of amenities, casual, contemporary décor and a focus on providing memorable guest experiences.

The Gahan House Restaurant and Brewery will be located on the main level of the hotel and will feature a 160-seat dining room, seasonal 60-seat patio and six-barrel DME brewing system.

The Moncton restaurant and brewery will be the third Gahan House location, with sister locations currently in Charlottetown and Halifax, Kevin Murphy, president of MHG, says New Brunswickers have been enjoying its handcrafted ales and supporting the brewery from the beginning.

“We believe in being part of the communities that support us and feel that this project is the right fit,’’ Murphy said. “We can’t wait to bring more Gahan beers into Moncton along with our relaxed, unique atmosphere, delicious food, and great service.

MHG, owned by Murphy and his family, is a multi-unit food and beverage operator with 10 restaurants, two hotels and two breweries out of Charlottetown, and two restaurants in Halifax. The company employs 500 people between both provinces. The new hotel marks their first venture into New Brunswick.
