A 21-year-old Charlottetown man is facing drug and weapons charges after the police arrested him Monday afternoon on Great George Street.

Deputy Chief Gary McGuigan said the police found methamphetamine, Oxycontin, Percocet, marijuana and hashish when they arrested the accused.

“Mostly methamphetamine,” he said.

Methamphetamine is commonly known as speed.

The police arrested the man for possessing methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

He is also facing a charge of possessing a prohibited weapon after the police allegedly found him with brass knuckles and bear spray.

The police also seized cash.

The accused will appear in provincial court at a later date.
