Police in Charlottetown have charged a 36-year-old Peakes man with impaired driving after a breathalyzer test revealed he had a blood/alcohol level more than four times the legal limit.

A spokesman for Charlottetown Police Services said they received a complaint Tuesday evening regarding an erratic driver on Park Street.

The caller also informed police that that vehicle almost struck his vehicle.

Police conducted a patrol and located the suspect vehicle.

When police determined the driver was impaired, they placed him under arrest.

The accused was jailed at the provincial correctional centre and will appear in provincial court at a later date.

Police encourage the public to report any instances of impaired driving by calling 9-1-1.
