Snow and heavy rains forecast
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all three counties in P.E.I. for Wednesday that calls for 10 cm of snow and over 20 mm of rain.
A low-pressure system is forecast to approach from the southwest on Wednesday.
Snow will develop ahead of the low beginning near noon on Wednesday and changeover to rain late in the afternoon as the warm front extending from the low pushes across the island.
As the warm front moves northward Wednesday evening, rain will continue Wednesday night and into Thursday as the low moves to lie near Anticosti island by Thursday evening.
Snowfall amounts near 10 cm are expected before the snow changes to rain. Rainfall amounts in excess of 25 mm are very possible on Thursday and rainfall warnings will likely be required for Thursday.
Members of the public are advised to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
