Tip from public directs RCMP to man driving around Borden-Carleton despite having his license suspended

A man driving a car that was not insured or registered was himself banned from driving when police found him, the RCMP said Tuesday.

A statement from the police force said a tip from the public alerted East Prince RCMP to the driver. He was found Monday, driving around Borden-Carleton at approximately 8:00 a.m.

"It was determined that the driver, a 53-year-old man from Summerside, was prohibited from driving anywhere in Canada as the result of a previous impaired driving conviction," said the police report.

"The driver was ticketed and released on a promise to appear in court at a later date to face charges," said the RCMP.

The vehicle was impounded for six months.
