RCMP task force investigating more Stratford breaks-ins

Published on January 6, 2016

The RCMP are investigating two more break and enters in the Stratford area they believe are related to the same culprit.

Those incidents occurred during the holidays and in both cases screens were cut out of windows to gain entry.

In the latest incident on Jan. 2, the thief entered through a second storey window, which the RCMP said was similar to past break-ins where a ladder or other object was used to reach an upper level of a home.

A homeowner appears to have scared off the thief in the latest incident and didn’t gain access, the RCMP said.

The homeowners didn’t notify the police until several days later and the RCMP are reminding any victims to contact them so evidence isn’t lost.

Since the break-ins started last spring, the police formed a task force to investigate after similar cases were reported in Cornwall and Charlottetown.

The RCMP released photos from one incident that was captured by a security camera.

The photos show a male suspect wearing a ski mask and dark clothing that appears white in the pictures from a night vision camera.
