Police called to scene on Chestnut street Wednesday evening

A woman found slumped over the steering wheel of a parked car is facing charges of having care and control of a vehicle while impaired by a drug.

Charlottetown Police Services received the complaint Wednesday evening about the incident on Cumberland Street, said a report issued by the department Thursday.

Officers noted the woman in the car seemed impaired, but not by alcohol, an observation confirmed by an officer known as a drug recognition expert who came to the scene.

"The accused person, a 26-year-old female resident of Stratford, will be appearing in provincial court at a later date," said the report.
