Grain on roads causes vehicles to crash in western P.E.I.

Published on September 18, 2015

The RCMP are investigating after a grain spill caused two vehicles to lose control on a section of highway in Inverness on Sept. 16.

In a news release, the RCMP said the drivers of the two vehicles went into a turn but didn’t see the more than two centimetres of grain spread across the highway.

They lost control on the slippery surface.

Tyne Valley Fire Department used its fire hoses to wash most of the grain off the road and the Transportation Department brought in a sweeper for the rest.

The RCMP reported one of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

No one was injured in the crashes.

Anyone with any information about the investigation can call the RCMP at 902-436-9300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
