BERWICK - Kings District RCMP reported June 3 that it is investigating an incident of a nail found in a potato in Berwick.
At approximately 7 p.m. June 1, RCMP received a complaint from a Kings County resident that a nail had been found in a potato.
Preliminary investigation determined that the complainant had purchased two five-pound bags of Griffin Russet potatoes from Foodland in Berwick May 27.
The complainant returned the affected potato and the bags to Foodland June 1.
No one was hurt as a result of the incident, RCMP reported.
A nail was also found in a potato salad purchased at the Woodville community barbecue May 31, police said earlier in the week.
Potatoes with metal objects in them have been reported a number of times in recent months across Atlantic Canada.
The Nova Scotia RCMP Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
