LAKE VERDE - Failing to obey a stop sign led to an impaired driving charge for an 18-year-old Fort Augustus man here Saturday morning.

Kings District RCMP arrested the man at the scene for impaired driving near a Route 5 intersection at about 9 a.m.

Police originally pulled the car over for failing to obey a stop sign at the intersection.

Following further investivation, officers arrested the man and took him to the Montague RCMP detachment where he provided breath samples reading more than twice the legal limit.

He was released later on Saturday and is scheduled to appear in Charlottetown court this September.

Police said they wanted to remind the public that drinking and driving is a danger at any time of the day.
