Charlottetown’s Birchwood Field is getting a makeover.

Just how nice the upgrade is, however, depends on the voters.

Voting is now underway in the Kraft Celebration Tour, a national program that helps improve places to play.

The capital city is guaranteed $25,000 from Kraft Canada to improve Birchwood Field and will host a live broadcast of TSN’s Sportscentre on Aug. 21.

The rest is up to voters today and Tuesday.

Charlottetown is among 10 communities across the country that will receive the $25,000 cheque. However, the community that receives the most voters in the online poll will get an additional $75,000.

Charlottetown will be using its winnings from the Kraft Celebration Tour to upgrade Birchwood Field, a scrap yard-turned football field, with a scoreboard and onsite storage facilities for the Privateers Football Club.

The improvements are expected to help rejuvenate the minor football program and provide a proper home for the club.
