One of Canada’s most reputable marching bands will hit the streets of downtown Charlottetown this August.
The Burlington Teen Tour Band, a band composed of nearly 150 teenage students from Burlington, Ontario, will be an astonishing sight as they take part in the 2014 Gold Cup Parade. The band will be stopping in Charlottetown as part of their East Coast Tour where they will be playing across the Maritime provinces in such locations as Kensington, P.E.I. and Sackville, New Brunswick.
This will be the band’s first time entering the Gold Cup Parade.
Since the band was established in 1947, they have toured all across the world and have performed at the 40th and 60th anniversaries of D-Day in France and England, the Orange Bowl in Florida, and at the 1992 World Series at the Toronto Skydome. The band has just recently returned from their tour last year in Ireland where they won the Best Youth Band Award at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, competing against 16 other bands from across the world.
The parade committee is still accepting entry applications for the 2014 Gold Cup Parade taking place on Aug. 15. The deadline for applications is Friday, Aug. 1. All inquiries can be sent to the parade office by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 902-626-5098.
