There was no shortage of head bangers and air guitarists in Charlottetown Saturday.
That was especially true when Drive-By Truckers took to the main stage during the final night of the Big Red Music Festival.
Thousands of Islanders and tourists alike converged at the Charlottetown Event Grounds for the final jam.
And they weren’t disappointed by the Georgia-based southern rock group.
“Best band ever,” shouted one boisterous fan after guitarist and singer Patterson Hood opened the group’s set with a shout out to Tommy Ramone.
Ramone, drummer and co-founder of the legendary punk group the Ramones, died Friday following a battle with cancer.
While he was remembered during the Charlottetown show, the mood was far from gloomy as the truckers launched into a fast-paced tune that would have made the legendary punk drummer proud.
The final night of the festival is also scheduled to have Grammy-nominated rock group The Killers headline the event. The Killers are scheduled to hit the main stage at 9:15 p.m.
Alt rock band Death Cab for Cutie is also scheduled to headline the event.
The venue has two stages, a main stage as well as the secondary Red Shores stage.
