Tens of thousands of tulips grown for various festivals now for sale

Published on June 9, 2014

Many tens of thousands upon many tens of thousands of tulips of all colours were grown for the various tulip festivals held on the Island since May.

Normally they would all be dead by now, but because of the cold and snowy winter and wet and cold spring they were several weeks behind schedule for blooming, but the last 16,000 plants remaining are in Victoria Park in Charlottetown and are for sale in bunches or the entire plant so the bulbs can be planted and the flowers will bloom again next year.

The tulips are adjacent to the Kiwanis Dairy Bar and will be for sale until Tuesday. Proceeds from the sales go to Island East and its programs.
