MONTAGUE — A 55-year-old man from Bangor faces impaired driving charges after he drove his car into the ditch Sunday evening.

Kings District RCMP responded to the crash on Route 311 near Cardigan at about 7 p.m.

The man was not injured but RCMP arrested him for impaired driving and took him to the Montague detachment.

The police say the man provided breath samples which contained almost three times the legal limit of alcohol to operate a motor vehicle.

He will appear in Georgetown Court on the charges at a later date.

"Detection and apprehension of impaired drivers is an RCMP priority across P.E.I.," says a news release from RCMP, "and police continue to seek the public's assistance to make our roadways safe."
