Island man arrested for driving while impaired by drugs

STRATFORD - A 28-year-old Prince Edward Island man is facing charges of operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs after an incident here on the weekend.

Stratford RCMP arrested the man in the Petro-Canada parking lot on Jubilee Road after receiving a complaint from the public.

RCMP conducted a drug recognition evaluation on the man after he failed a standard field sobriety test.

Subsequently, RCMP charged the man with impaired operation of his vehicle. He will appear in provincial court this September.

RCMP also arrested a 21-year-old West Prince man for impaired driving at approximately 8:30 a.m. Saturday in Tignish.

The man had provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit and was charged.

He was released on a promise to appear in provincial court in July.
