Gas prices dropped in Prince Edward Island.

After paying record high prices for gas for the past two weeks, Prince Edward Island drivers are about to get a bit of a break at the pumps.

The Guardian has learned gas prices will drop by 4.4 cents per litre effective 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, May 15.

That will cut prices to between 136.9 and 138.1 cents per litre.

Diesel prices will fall by 4.0 cents per litre.

Home heating oil prices will drop by 3.5 cents per litre.

The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission, which regulates fuel prices in Prince Edward Island, will make the new prices official on Thursday.

The next scheduled price adjustment is on June 1.

Gasbuddy.com, a website that tracks gas prices in Canada, says the average gas price in Canada is now about 135.1 cents per litre, which means Island drivers are paying two to three cents per litre higher than the national average.
