MONTAGUE — A rookie town councillor was airlifted to Halifax and is now on life support following a collapse Tuesday.

Forty nine year old Wayne Spin is described as being in critical condition after having surgery for a bleeding ulcer on the weekend and then a major heart attack later that day.

"He took a turn for the worse overnight and is now on life support,'' said Mayor Richard Collins on Wednesday. "We are all wishing him well."

Collins was attending a weekend conference in Charlottetown with his council colleague. Spin won a council seat during the last election and has been a constant town and festival promoter for the community.
