Forty-one stores in Atlantic Canada getting a fresh new look, new name

Your Independent Grocer

Beginning this week, Save Easy locations across Atlantic Canada including the four in P.E.I. will be converted to Your Independent Grocer stores.

The first 15 stores will be converted this month. The balance will be completed in phases over the next 24 months.

Your Independent Grocer is a name well known in other parts of the country, where 150 other locations operate within the Loblaw family of companies.

“Each one of our 41 stores will be renovated to create a new look and to introduce changes – from our focus on fresh goods, expanded bakery shelving and refrigeration areas to our easy-to-follow signage – which customers should notice the minute they walk through the doors,” said Phil McNeill, senior vice president, Loblaw Companies Limited, Atlantic.

“One thing that won’t change is the existing connections our stores have with their communities. As the name suggests, Your Independent Grocer stores are run by community-minded individuals who understand the important role they play as the local grocer.”

There will be no changes to staffing at the local stores.

“While the former Save Easy network of stores is one of the smallest in the Loblaw network, Your Independent Grocer is one of the largest, allowing local owners to share great best practices and a proven approaches to grocery retailing with other owners nationwide,” said McNeill. “The conversion is not only a commitment to our customers, it’s a commitment to our local Atlantic franchisees and employees.”
