GEORGETOWN — A Montague youth who brazenly robbed the Tim Hortons temporary coffee shop in the middle of the night is going to jail.

The 15-year-old, who posted his plans on Facebook, was “not quite drunk” and brandishing a box cutter when he entered the coffee shop trailer in the dark of night Jan 8 and demanded money, a court hearing was told here.

Two female employees handed over $160 and the thief left after the 3 a.m. robbery to “hang out” at a friend’s house.

The Tim Hortons is undergoing a major renovation and a temporary trailer is being used to accommodate the public.

Court was told the youth, with a substantial record and severe addiction problems, spent the entire day hatching out his plan.

Provincial court Judge Nancy Orr recently sentenced the youth to 12 months in jail.
