Four P.E.I. forest firefighters have left for northern Ontario as part of an initial attack fire team helping with the region’s increasingly serious wildfire situation.
High temperatures, dry conditions and thunderstorms in northern Ontario have helped to create the current fire emergency.
Most wildfires in P.E.I. tend to happen in May and June rather than during the summer months.
The majority of the Island’s forest firefighters are still in the province should conditions change.
