CORNWALL, P.E.I. - Graham Hicken is running for the top elected job in Cornwall.

Hicken works for Holland College as an instructor for the wood manufacturing and cabinetmaking program.

He is also the provincial chairman of the P.E.I. Cabinetmaking Competition with Skills P.E.I. and has been on the Skills Competences Canada National Technical Committee for more than a decade.

In addition, Hicken is a new member of Citizens on Patrol in Cornwall and is a former captain of the East River Fire Department, retired training officer of the Mount Stewart Fire Department and a veteran with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Hicken has two grown children, Lauren and Matthew. The mayoral candidate was raised in eastern P.E.I. where his family was involved in farming, raising race horses and the food service industry.

Hicken was the first candidate to declare for the mayor’s job in Cornwall. The incumbent, Minerva McCourt, announced Friday that she intends to run again.
