CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - A P.E.I. Supreme Court judge has allowed several names to be added to a lawsuit related to the province’s failed e-gaming scheme.
In a recent decision, Justice Gordon Campbell allowed the addition of former premier Robert Ghiz, Melissa MacEachern, Neil Stewart, Steven Dowling, William Dow, Tracey Cutcliffe and Gary Scales to the lawsuit.
Capital Markets Technologies, Inc. and 7645686 Canada Inc. were initially suing the government of P.E.I., Wes Sheridan, Steve MacLean, Allan Campbell, Chris LeClair, Brad Mix, Cheryl Paynter, Paul Jenkins and 7628382 Canada Corporation.
The plaintiffs since sought to add several people to the lawsuit and Ghiz, MacEachern, Dowling and Stewart consented to have their names added as defendants.
Dow, Cutcliffe and Scales opposed having their names added, but Campbell granted the plaintiffs’ motion.
Campbell also ordered $300,000 in security for costs in favour of Dow, Cutcliffe and Scales.
