A Charlottetown woman has been fined $1,200 for driving while more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit.

Christine Gauthier, 57, was also handed a $400 victim surcharge and is prohibited from operating a motor vehicle for 12 months.

The offence occurred in Charlottetown on May 6.

Gauthier’s lawyer said the woman accepts “full responsibility’’ for her action.

“I never want this to happen again,’’ Gauthier told the court.

“I just ask for the Lord’s strength.’’
