The City of Charlottetown has its first-ever food council.

This council will address topics such as nutrition, food-related health issues, sustainable agriculture, equitable access to food and food-related economic development.

The city’s sustainability officer, sustainability outreach co-ordinator and sustainable horticulture intern reviewed and selected the 14-member council out of 33 applications that were received.

The council is made up of chair Karen Murchison, Bernard Plourde, Emilee Sorrey, Gail Metcalfe, Jennifer Whittaker, Mike MacDonald, Morgan Palmer, Pierre Hajjar, Phil Ferraro, Robert Godfrey, Sarah Donald, Shannon Courtney, Stanley Chaisson and Travis Cummiskey.
