CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - New life is being injected into the Brain Injury Association of P.E.I.
Vicki Homes, a new member of the board, says the goal is to revitalize the organization using a team approach.
BIAPEI is in transition with the resignation late last month of Kenneth Murnaghan, who ran the not-for-profit group since getting it off the ground in 2008.

Homes says the board is moving forward with “excitement and optimism’’ following recent round table discussions about the needs of brain injured survivors and their families in Prince Edward Island.
Board president Simon Micklethwaite notes the organization in the past couple years has moved away from helping survivors to worrying about fundraising to pay the bills.
As of Nov. 30, BIAPEI will be vacating its current office space at the Volunteer Resource Centre on Prince Street in Charlottetown – a board decision made a couple of months ago.
The board is optimistic the right place will become available at the right time.
“In the New Year we hope to have great news to share with the communities of P.E.I. and reveal our team approach,’’ says Homes.
“Stay tuned for the changes coming to BIAPEI. This is a challenging time but also an exciting time.’’
Homes says the message the board wants to stress is that survivors come first with the organization.
