SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - The first candidate for Summerside’s Ward 5: Hillcrest – Platte River has come forward.
Barbara Gallant put her name forward on Wednesday to challenge current Coun. Greg Campbell for a seat at Summerside City Council.
“As a graduate of Atlantic Business College and possessing organizational and people skills, I can work independently, or as part of a team, to achieve success,” she said. “I consider myself to be a quick learner, willing to take on any challenge and I have demonstrated these attributes through my work experience and voluntary services.”
Since 1997, Arsenault has owned and operated her business, Barb’s Esthetics, and worked at a handful of other businesses.
She has also volunteered with the George R. Pearke’s Brach of the Royal of Canadian Legion, the Lest We Forget Committee and the Ladies Auxiliary.
“Becoming a member of city council would afford me another avenue to serve my community. I find it quite interesting and I am encouraged by the number of women who are seeking elected office.”
