The co-chairman of the Age Friendly Cities Committee presented to Summerside City Council recently to ask for over $30,000 in funding for their 2018 year.
Peter Holman spoke to council saying the 2018 contribution will help with events they have planned as well as $5,000 will go toward the evaluation and report needed for the World Health Organization to designate the city as age friendly.
This is part of the group’s five-year initiative to join the global community of age friendly cities.
Holman also asked for an additional $9,000, which will be used for 2019 initiatives.
No decision was made.
