It’s been a busy fall for Island A Cappella, P.E.I.’s women’s barbershop chorus, filled with travel, competition and two new upcoming performances to celebrate the season.
The chorus members just returned from Halifax where they were delighted to win the Silver Division of Harmony, Inc’s International Convention and Contests, enabling the chorus to move on in the event and compete against some of the best women’s barbershop choruses from across North America.
"It was certainly a thrill to be able to perform twice on the international contest stage at the World Trade and Convention Centre; especially since it was the first time almost half of our members had competed at  that level," says chorus director Carolyn Prime. "We love any opportunity to share our music with an audience; and to be recognized by professional judges in singing, music and performance categories was a true honour and makes our many hours of rehearsal all worthwhile.”

P.E.I. audiences will have two opportunities to enjoy the chorus’s four-part harmony stylings at upcoming performances at the Confederation Court Mall and Confederation Centre of the Arts.
On Saturday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m., the chorus will sing a selection of Christmas carols for shoppers and young visitors to Santa at the Confederation Court Mall.
Then on the night of Friday, Dec. 1, the chorus will be guest performers in A Maritime Christmas with Tomato Tomato, Heather Rankin and Dave Gunning at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Tickets are available from the centre’s box office or online at: http://www.confederationcentre.com.
