Ceilidh in the City will host Tales & Tunes, a night of traditional east coast music and Island stories on Wednesday, July 18 at the Jack Blanchard Centre, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The show will feature the carefully woven tales of Island story teller Alan Buchanan, a member of the popular group, The Four Tellers.

In the days before modern entertainment, the storyteller was the one who kept folks entertained.

In his segment, Buchanan will tell the stories of many Island characters. He will be joined on stage by Brian Blacquiere, a Rustico native who will perform traditional fiddle tunes like the “Orange Blossom Special”, “Maple Sugar” as well as some high energy tunes on the banjo.

These guest performers will join the weekly hosts of the Ceilidh In the City, Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Brian Knox and Heartz Godkin at the Centre. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for general admission. There will be a canteen service, operated by the Jack Blanchard Centre catering staff, with fresh baked treats, coffee, tea and soft-drinks.

A weekly 50/50 draw in support of the Ceilidh Gives Back Fund will also take place with proceeds supporting various Island Charities and families in financial need.

For information on the show or large group reservations please feel free to contact Kendall at 902-569-1133 or Brian at 902-569-3327.
