UPEI alumnus Lindsay Gillis leads off Kirk Recitals July 12
The first of the summer’s Kirk Recitals goes Wednesday, July 12, 12:10 p.m., featuring Lindsay Gillis.
What do rock star Bif Naked and tattoo artist Ami James have in common with local author Corey Poirier?
Poirier says the common thread is neither of them discovered their purpose until later in life.
The P.E.I.-born author and TEDx speaker delves into the theme of helping people discover their lot in life sooner with his 13th book, “Why.”
The book includes bonus insights from almost 150 thought leaders, including Canadian music icon Bif Naked and Ami James of the popular “Miami Ink” TV show.
The work is based on Poirier’s research into the power of learning one’s “why,” and is rooted in thousands of hours of personal interviews with some of the world’s top leaders.
“I didn’t discover my why until I was well into my twenties. I wish I would have discovered it sooner,” said Poirier. “This book is my way of helping others discover their true calling sooner.”
Poirier has interviewed more than 4,000 leaders, including Olympian Heather Moyse, Chicken Soup co-creator Jack Canfield, Rick Hansen, Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar, Olympic gold medalist Silken Laumann, P90x creator Tony Horton and actor Kevin Sorbo.
A motivational Speaker since 2002 and an author since 2010, Poirier decided to release the new book for free digitally for a limited time. Visit www.thebookofwhy.com, and use the word “why” at purchase.
