Beaconsfield Carriage House hosting Sunday concert

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Beaconsfield Historic House is presenting A Carriage House Concert on Sunday, April 9 beginning at 2:30 p.m. and features members of the P.E.I. Registered Music Teachers Association, which includes music teachers from across the province. 

The performance will take place in Beaconsfield’s Carriage House located at the corner of Kent and West streets in Charlottetown. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students. Refreshments will be available at intermission with proceeds in support of Beaconsfield Historic House. Tickets at the door or by calling 902-368-6603.

The P.E.I. Registered Music Teachers Association (PEIRMTA) is an organization dedicated to the teaching and promotion of music. The group strives to maintain high musical and academic qualifications among its members and offers continuing educational opportunities both for members and non-members alike. 

During the year, PEIRMTA has presented a choral workshop, a composition workshop and several recitals for student performances. Similar presentations have taken place over the years at the Carriage House including the well received Divas and Desserts in the spring of 2014 and A Carriage House Concert in April 2016.

This year’s performance will feature many well-known Island classical musicians including Frances Gray, Stephanie Cole, Dale Sorensen, Frances McBurnie, Kathleen Linkletter, Margot Rejskind, Andrea Ellis, Lori Linkletter, Debi Voye and Jacqueline Sorensen Young. 

Musical selections will range from classical to modern including various combinations of voice and instruments as well as three Gershwin songs arranged for Piano Six Hands and a collaborative choir consisting of all the concert performers.
