Western Capitals forward selected to CJHL prospects game

WINKLER, Man. — Forward Darcy Ashley of the Summerside Western Capitals has been named to Team East for the Canadian Junior Hockey League Prospects Game later this month.
The Maritime Junior A Hockey League’s leading scorer is the lone MJAHL?representative on the team.
The community of Winkler and the province of Manitoba will host the fifth annual event, Dec. 7-9.
Ashley has 18 goals and 21 assists in 23 games for the Western Capitals and holds a three-point lead in the scoring race.
The CJHL Prospects Game will see the top draft-eligible players from leagues across Canada compete. Player selection is a joint initiative of the CJHL and NHL Central Scouting.
The CJHL Prospects Game was created to showcase the top-40 NHL draft-eligible players in the Canadian Junior Hockey League. Summerside hosted the event in 2008.
In October, 27 players from the Canadian Junior Hockey League were recognized on the NHL Central Scouting ‘players to watch’ list for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
For the first time, the teams will play a two-game series.
Game 1 will be played Dec. 8 with Game 2 on Dec. 9.
Team East and Team West have each won two games in the four-year history of the event.
