Culprits vandalize St. Peter's Church in Seven Mile Bay Breaking News print this article
The Guardian

Police are searching for suspects who broke into St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay, in North Carleton sometime overnight Sunday and early Monday this week.

The suspects vandalized the church and stole several items, say East Prince RCMP.

Police didn't say how much damage was caused inside the Catholic church.

RCMP are seeking assistance from the public in solving this crime. Anyone with information is asked to call East Prince RCMP at 436-9300 or CrimeStoppers.

Shelly from PEI writes: Every day there is a new break-in. Pretty soon we are going to have to put bars on windows and doors of EVERY building!

Overreacting from PEI writes: Shelly: Calm down. There are break-ins everywhere. We live on PEI. It's not a huge problem.

NotforRCism from PE writes: RC church abuses children...then children abuse the RC church...what goes around comes around...eye for an eye isnt it? RC'ism is tainted with controlling behavior...Really though...people should wake up and realize that religion was created to keep society from chaos...instead it created more chaos than ever intended...
Looks good on the RC church I say!

Wow - Really from Charlottetown, PE writes: Don't worry - it was probably just a group of teenagers.......young offenders. They'll have to write a letter of apology and all will be forgotten.

Stephen from Stratford, PEI writes: To Overreacting. Have you ever been violated that way? Have you ever had your home broken in to or car sifted through? I have had my home broken into once and had items totaling 7000.00 stolen including a ring my grandfather gave me that he had from WWII which insurance can never replace, and attempted to be broken in to once. I cant count how many times my car has been broken in to. It IS a huge problem and for someone to stoop so low to break into a church is an even bigger problem. Until you have had your belongings and memories taken from you like that, you really have no room to speak

RC from PE writes: To overreacting: Have you ever had your home broken into? You say it's not a huge problem. Invasion of privacy; sentimental items broken or stolen; cost to repair damages and replace stolen items; increased insurance rates; cost of investigating the break-in; the judicial cost related to the crime; the mental cost thinking that your personal property was invaded, will it happen again, loss of sleep, what was that sound - is it an invader?, etc. So yes it is a huge problem!

eunice from alberta writes: I agree with Shelly, some people have no respect for other peoples property. My motto is if it is not yours keep your hands off of it'. Our churches are a work of art and also are sacred property. WE need tougher laws on these offenders who destroy other peoples property. I am a former Islander who cares.

behind the curtins from summerside, PEI writes: TO overreacting well i guess you are one of those people that your blind to what your neighbors are doing..... there would be a big drug bust next door and you would be like omg i would of never knew they were like that....come on now in the past 5 years on pei the crime has went through the roof... but i guess you would never know sence you see that its not a huge problem..... come look at it from my point of view you would be shocked to what really happens on PEI.. we are not this perfect province that people make us look like....

Maria from PEI writes: To NotforRCism, I'm sorry you are so misinformed about the abuses that men carried out. The religion of Catholicism is not to blame for the evil that lies in men's hearts and souls. Stealing religious belongings, is sinful, as is stealing anyone elses belongings.
Remember, Thou shalt not trespass against thy neighbour, and thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's belongings.
The culprits should be punsihed if they are ever found. And in future use your hate for those abuses that are committed against the innocent to prevent such happenings, instead of promoting hate for God and religion.

To Overreacting! from PEI writes: Ditto. I hope the not a huge problem never happens to you!

I've never had it happen and hope I never do. The worst for me would I think would be if my house was ever broken into. I dont' think I'd ever get over it or the fear of maybe somebody doing it again!

I think my sense of safety and privacy in my own home would be gone forever!

Probably get off from pe writes: People are poor. Can't expect them not to steal to feed themselves.

All Valerie Docherty's fault. She put money in that country concert and drove the enonomy into the ground.

LA from PEI writes: and NotforRCism...I'm pretty sure the faithful of this particular church, who will be paying for the damage, have zero to do with abused little boys. Let's not get melodramatic.

Overreacting from PEI writes: I wasn't saying break-ins didn't suck. I was merely stating the fact that PEI has an extremely low crime rate. Stop complaining that the crime rate is really high here. It's ridiculous. Move anywhere else and you'll see the bubble that is PEI. Wake up. Stop whining.
