It's still news from PE writes: Even though not everyone is ROMAN Catholic, this is still news. Not everyone reads the sports section but it's still reported. Get with the program Heathen.

Georgia Peach from PEI writes: If this is news, then would it not be fair and balanced reporting to have each church/religion have it's ministerial changes reported in the paper?

47% of the island is from PEI writes: 47% of Islanders are Catholic, and I'm sure If other denominations wanted to contact the media with their appointments that would be encouraged.

Chris S from Charlottetown, PE writes: Awesome, so 47% of people on the Island either fully believe in or enable others to believe in a magical, all knowing, sky daddy who grants wishes (sometimes, but never to amputees) and keeps a list of things he never wants you to do (on which he forgot slavery and rape). Oh , and his son is some kind of zombie who is also him for some reason.

Certainly the promotion of some preachers of that rediculous belief system shouldn't be cause for celebration, but a call to hang our collective heads in shame for perpetuating the ignorance of sheep herders through generations.

Ray Mahar from City, PEI writes: How can the moderator of these comments allow commenters to spew pure hatred against the catholic church time and time again.. it makes one wonder does the moderator agree with these terrible comments.
I dont expect you to allow this comment. which only proves my point.
Im sure a letter to the Editor about this perceived bias would not be printed as well.It saddens me that you continue this practise.

Head Shaker from pe writes: Chris S, mocking is not intelligent argument. In fact it is often the sign that the mocker can't think of anything intelligent to say.

If you add protestant and other religious groups, it adds up to much more than that.

So since the majority of people believe that, and this is still a democracy and not a chrisocracy, they have the right to do so regardless of your views on the subject.

I am a practicing Catholic, but Chris's comment made my day. I thought it was hilarious. Don't take things so seriously..

God Is My Judge from PE writes: The fact is, that if this is news then anyone who belongs to a superstitious organization also deserves to have news published that is relevant to their organization. For example, if their is a new president of the Don't open umbrellas indoors society and I am a member, am I not entitled, because I believe that opening umbrellas indoors is detrimental to my health and my society, that that would be newsworthy?

This is news for the church paper because it is only relevant to the members of that particular superstitious club.

Old Tory from P.E.I. writes: If the creep called Chris spewed similiar venom towards Jews, the B'nai Brith society would be all over it screaming hatred against an identifiable group. On the other hand, we should feel sorry for the pathetic chap and pray that he will find Jesus.

You should be sorry. unlike you i am also catholic But not bragging about it.
That particula Post was more than Nasty. it was HATE. And be assurd The Guardian can be made to account for its decision to allow those comments as well as countless others. Hate speech is against the law in Canada. And those that allow it are responsible as well. The guardian has Chris`s Email address, And i am positive the moderator can be forced to reveal it to the authorities. I copied these comments as well as past incidents Re: criminal priests. And intend to contact the proper Authorities re an opinion. If it continues.
At least I used my name. and not hide behind a nick.

Chamomile Tea from La La Land writes: Ray take a seat and relax. People are entitled to their own opinions. Though the poster may not believe in Catholicism, it doesn't mean his comments to ward the faith are criminal.

If you like to practice it...great...go ahead and do so. Others can have opinions as well. Hate is a strong word to throw at someone's preferencial bias.

Ray Rickards from Charlottetown, PEI writes: To the other Ray, get a grip on yourself, if you take your issues to the police they may in fact tell you to get help. Ever heard of free speech. Who is to say Chris isn't correct. Maybe his choice to post in this article was only made to get a reaction, but he is entitled to his opinion isn't he. Chris I have no problem with your post, as I also have no problem with the article as it's definitely newsworthy as it effects a large number of Islanders. I do have a problem with the other Ray and his theory that those speak out against the church should be brought down to jail. Ray there maybe no god, there maybe a god. I doubt Chris used his real email address as well. Once again Ray get a grip, move forward with acceptance others have the right to question our believes through words. There was no hate
If Jesus did come back to life technically he would be a zombie.

Chris S from Charlottetown, PE writes: Kinda funny Old Tory , to mention the Jews.... being they believe in the same sky daddy, kinda a 2 for 1 comment. 3 for one if you count the muslims.

See I'm all about thbe equal oppertunity over here. And you folks say I hate, silly silly.

Maybe the meer mention of a sky daddy lording over our life offends me so much I consider your praise to be hate speech , eh? Certainly hate against rationality thats for sure.

Don't throw the word hate around if its cleary free speech, you dilute the word and its meaning everytime you do which will just make it harder for people who are actually experiencing problems and bigotry in their life to get heard... You know, people like homosexuals who have to deal with it all the time, alot of faiths seem to have a strange fixation on that topic.

Anyway, head shaker if you were looking for an intelligent argument you would be wise to stay away from the comment section of local newspapers and church pews.

Since you feel free to state your opinion of Christian Faith in Jesus. Ie: Jesus the Zombie Could i presume you have a similar opinion of mohamed and The Muslim Faith ? Or Abraham and the Jewish faith.
Or are you worried about the consequences if you do. Cowards are all the same. They Hide behind Niks and the internet.I appolagise if your a child. You know no better. Each person is entileled to worship their own God but have no right to denegrate other beliefs..

This is all so stupid from PEI writes: Dear Ray, its called FREEDOM OF SPEECH. People died for that right!!! so to you i dont say shut up because you have the right to say what you want , thats what the comments sections are for and as far as chris's comment its his opinion and i dont see anything in it that requires calling the authorities , thats just laughable and a waste of the police's time . Oh and just because someones opinion does not match yours doesnt make it wrong :) have a great day and remember god forgives so why cant you !!!

Ian Gillies from Toronto, Ontario writes: When Peter talks about Paul, he says a lot more about Peter than he says about Paul.
The Christian would do well to recall that St. Paul said: (not a direct quote); To those who do not believe in Jesus Christ. If Jesus Christ has not risen from the dead then we are to be the post pitied of all creation. But Christ DID RISE. That is the main reason that all of this makes sense to the believer.
