Keefe tops wrestling podium
The Guardian
Veronica Keefe of Charlottetown, a member of the Rikidokan Club and the Canada Games training squad, was in outstanding form on the weekend, winning the Canada Cup international tournament in the under-80 kg category in Guelph, Ont.
Competing in an age category specifically for Canada Games athletes, Keefe handily won all of her five matches, conceding just one point in total. All her victories came inside the first round.
Also in action was club member Anne Marie Smith, who fought very well to finish in an excellent fourth place in the under-56 kg category.
The Canada Cup is one of the largest wrestling events in the country, attracting competitors from as far away as Korea and Australia, as well as numerous athletes from across North and South America.
