Gallant CD off to space station with astronaut DOUG GALLANT The Guardian
Singer-songwriter Lennie Gallant is about to see his career skyrocket.
Sort of.
Gallant’s music is headed for the stars this month on board the space shuttle Endeavour. Canadian Space Agency astronaut Julie Payette has announced her plans to bring a copy of Gallant’s last album with her when she returns to the International Space Station.
Payette chose the album, the aptly titled When We Get There, to entertain her fellow astronauts during their upcoming 16-day mission. This latest mission will include five spacewalks.
Gallant’s music, which has been heard around the world, will now orbit the earth.
Mission STS-127 will attach a platform to the outside of the space station’s Japanese Laboratory Kibo. Science experiments will take place on this platform, allowing them to remain exposed to the harsh environment of space.
When We Get There earned Gallant a JUNO nomination. Gallant’s new record, If We Had A Fire, will be released this summer.

Michael & Lisa from Sparta, NJ writes: Congratulations Lennie! Maybe your next Rendevous Rustico event can be done in zero gravity as a tribute to the shuttle. We're glad to see the extra exposure for you and your wonderful music.
