The streak for Murray Harbour's Brad Richards ended Thursday night.
Richards said hasn't been feeling well overall and didn't play in the Dallas Stars' game in Phoenix, which the Stars won 4-2.
Richards said it's not flu and it's not lingering effects from the mono he had earlier in the year.
However, he has to be feeling really bad because he will stop a streak of 354 consecutive games played by missing Thursday night's game. It was only the third game he has missed in his pro career. The other two were due to a death in his family.
Richards said that he played through the mono earlier in the season because he didn't know he had it.
When he was finally diagnosed, he said the mono had regressed. He said that by February, his blood tests were all clear and that what he has now doesn't feel the same as what he had then.
The Stars are 2-7-2 with Richards in the lineup, falling from second overall in the NHL and in the Western Conference to fifth place in the west.
Dallas has clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup playoffs and will play the defending champion Anaheim Ducks in the first round. Which team gets home-ice advantage has yet to be determined.

Dave from PEI writes: Despite how some people feel about the money these guys make, Brad is one very classy guy and a heck of a hockey player. Hopefully he feels better and gets back in the lineup. Go Stars!!

RBJ from PE writes: Richards is a great player. He will likely be a great addition to Dallas when he finnally gets healthy.
