The Upper Room Angels' major fund raiser for the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry’s Soup Kitchen and Food Bank begins its 30th annual fund-raising campaign Sept. 3.

The goal is $75,000 this year, which will enable the Angels to continue their weekly contribution to the ministry to help with the purchase of food and supplies needed to assist our clientele.

Since its inception, the Angels have raised $2,118,525 at an exceptionally low cost: the 2017-2018 campaign raised $68,081 at a cost of 4.7 per cent. All proceeds go directly to the ministry.

The last fiscal year, the soup kitchen served 45,214 meals with a slight decrease. Up to 12 meals a week were provided to those in need. The Food Bank, helped an average of 544 families per month, an increase of 4.62 per cent. Each member of a family received a three-day supply of food per month). Food sufficient to prepare the equivalent of 189,520 meals was distributed. A slight increase is anticipated in the coming fiscal year.

The Angels are non-denominational. The organization requests that members, renew their membership. Also, there is a need for new members. Money is not solicited by phone or house to house calls.
