New programs at Martha Spirituality Centre in Charlottetown

Martha Spirituality Centre at SDU Place on Great George Street in Charlottetown (use the entry door at the back of SDU Place) is offering a number of programs for September to December 2018.

A combined chair yoga and Christian meditation (CYMC) is being offered for a series of five sessions on Mondays,10-11:30 a.m., from Sept. 10 to Oct. 15, for one hour of chair yoga with Karen Langevin and one-half hour of meditation with Sr. Katheen Bolger. The cost is $50 or $90 a couple, and the space is limited to 12 participants. A second series runs Oct. 22 to Nov. 26.

Awakening cosmic relationships is a six-part series of video presentations to awaken the consciousness and deepen the relationship with all creation. Participants will be expected to view a video online as preparation for each session. This series is offered on Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m., beginning Sept. 18, and continuing every first and third Tuesday. The cost is $30. It is necessary to pre-register by Sept. 14.

A women’s book study of Joyce Rupp’s Boundless Compassion: Creating a Way of Life is on Mondays 7 p.m., beginning Sept. 24 and meeting every two weeks until Dec. 10, with facilitator Lynn DeLong. Rupp’s writings invite readers to reflect on how true compassion meets realism with hope in our lives. The cost $40 including the text or $20 for those who have a text. It is necessary to pre-register by Sept. 13 so texts can be ordered.

Stress relief workshops with Louise Carota are being re-offered in a series of four sessions on Fridays, Sept. 14 to Oct. 5, 7-8:30 p.m. Topics include understanding stress, getting along with others, getting comfortable with self and getting better tools. The fee is $25 for the four sessions. Pre-registration is necessay as there are limited spaces.

Regular Christian meditation sessions will begin again on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 9:30-10:15 a.m. and 7:15-8 p.m. All Christian denominations are welcome. The fee is a donation.
