CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – A city walking group is determined to carry on throughout the winter, despite the colder temperatures.

Last May, CNIB P.E.I. organized a weekly walking group that takes a brisk but relaxed four-kilometre walk every Wednesday. The group leaves from Joe Ghiz Park at 10:30 a.m. and travels along the Confederation Trail to Belvedere Avenue and back.

The club is also a social gathering with occasional stops at the market for coffee and donuts, picnics and sometimes tea, coffee and cookies are provided.

Group coordinator Maria Pochylski wants to keep the group going in the winter, either on the plowed trail or the walking track at Holland College.

The group welcomes more participants with vision loss, but needs more volunteers. Anyone is welcome to join for a single walk, six or 20 – no formal commitment is necessary.

For more information, contact CNIB staff Pat Hilchey: 902-566-2580, and Rachel Kitson: rachel.kitson@cnib.ca, or Pochylski, 514-247-1062, mapochylski@gmail.com.
