Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award presented to 261 recipients during bronze and silver ceremony

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award- Canada-Prince Edward Island held its largest award ceremony to date at the Centre for Community Engagement, Holland College.

Nora MacEwen, president, welcomed P.E.I. Lt.-Gov. Antoinette Perry, Susan Willis, deputy minister of education, early learning and culture, Brian McMillan, president of Holland College, and special guests. She also called on all three for remarks.

Chris Zhou gave an inspiring speech to the youth. Queen Charlotte recipients Devyn Colette and Lindsey Hood provided music selection on the saxophone.  

Participants were from 60 RCACS Confederation, 85 RCSCC Summerside, Belfast Consolidated School, Bluefield High School, Charlottetown Rural High School, Colonel Gray High School, East Wiltshire Intermediate School, Englewood School, Grace Christian School, Gulf Shore Consolidated School, Immanuel Christian School, Queen Charlotte Intermediate School, Stonepark Intermediate School and independents.

MacEwen presented the bronze and silver award pin to the recipients, and Willis presented the achievers with the provincial pin. 

The master of ceremonies for the evening was Neil Thompson, vice-president and award leader. 

MacEwen thanked Holland College for hosting the award ceremony and Eastlink for taping it.
